What is your city doing to make it more cycling friendly?

With cycling becoming more and more popular, City's are faced with more bike traffic than ever before. What changes (if any)is your city making to make the roads safer for the cyclist?

Luckily in my neighborhood, we have a very active coalition that is pro-bikes and pro-pedestrians. Currently, we are fighting to decrease a car lane from one of our downtown street and increase walkways and add a bike lane. It will deter motorists from riding through during rush hour and it will increase foot and bike traffic.
